A new Southern-inspired restaurant with a healthy twist is coming to Julington Creek next year.
Pecan Craft Kitchen has been approved for a $750,000 buildout, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. The restaurant will take over the former Broudy’s Liquor Store at 138 Florida 13 N., which moved to 25 Village Oaks Drive in August 2023.
A “Farm-to-Fire” Concept
Co-owner Brad Chasteen says the idea has been in the works for a while.
“The concept is simple: use fresh, local ingredients and bring out flavors with fire,” Chasteen said.
The restaurant, set to open in April 2025, will feature:
- 120 seats
- A covered patio
- Live fire grilling
- A full-service bar with craft cocktails
- 45 self-serve taps for beer, wine, and cocktails

A Healthier Take on Southern Favorites
Chasteen, who operates over 50 Moe’s Southwest Grill franchises across Florida, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., says the menu will reinvent Southern staples with healthier ingredients.
Expect burgers, chicken, and pimento cheese, along with Arctic-raised salmon and other fresh options.
“We want to offer food that’s tasty and can be enjoyed every day without guilt,” Chasteen said. “No one else is doing live fire grilling in the fast-casual world.”
