A group of frustrated Jacksonville Jaguars fans is taking their protest to the sky.
Angry over the team’s poor 3-11 season, fans have launched a GoFundMe campaign to demand the firing of General Manager Trent Baalke. Their plan? Fly a banner with that message over EverBank Stadium during an upcoming game.
“This man can not continue as the Jaguars GM any longer,” wrote campaign organizer “Wayne Weaver” in his post.
Fans of the team may recognize that name—Wayne Weaver was part of the group that brought the Jaguars to Jacksonville in 1993. He and his partners later sold the team to current owner Shad Khan in 2011.
The fundraiser originally aimed to put up a billboard, but costs led them to choose a cheaper but more dramatic option—the flyover.
So far, 32 donors have contributed $1,825, surpassing the $1,600 goal. One anonymous donor gave $500 alone.
With enough funds secured, the plan is moving forward.
“I pivoted to doing the aerial flyby, like the New York Giants have done two weeks in a row,” Weaver explained. “However, with our budget, we can now afford to choose from a few different banner options. I’ll post pictures, and you guys can decide which one works best.”
He then shared three possible banner designs and asked supporters to vote.
“Let me know what you think, and thank you once again,” he wrote.
