Two lucky residents from Ponte Vedra Beach just became millionaires thanks to a scratch-off game.
The Florida Lottery announced that Walter Sheard, 77, and Natwar Patel, 67, each won $1 million playing the 500X The Cash game. Both claimed their prizes on the same day in September and chose to receive lump sum payments of $640,000.
The odds of winning a million dollars in this game are 1 in 274,004, and each ticket costs $50.
Sheard bought his winning ticket at Publix on Marsh Landing Parkway in Jacksonville Beach, while Patel got his from Murphy USA gas station on Branan Field Road in Middleburg.
Just last week, another player, Dale Rosato, 51, from Jacksonville Beach, also won $1 million in the same game.
So far this year, eight people from St. Johns, Clay, and Duval counties have won the grand prize in the 500X The Cash game.
