Prince Harry’s decision to fly to Britain after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis has been seen as a positive sign in their relationship, despite allegations of leaks to the media and bombshells from Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview, memoir, and Netflix show. Despite allegations of media leaks and bombshells from Prince Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview, memoir, and Netflix show, his decision to fly to Britain following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis has been interpreted as a positive sign in their relationship. The Duke of Sussex boarded a plane hours after Buckingham Palace announced that the king had begun cancer treatment. Harry had already spoken with his father about his health, and the next day he met Charles at Clarence House around 3 p.m. U.K. time.
The meeting, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, was viewed as a beautiful opportunity for Harry to show up for his father and make amends for the pain he caused the family. Eric Schiffer, chair of Reputation Management Consultants, stated that Harry would rather chew glass than make this visit due to the past. “This is a beautiful moment for him to show up for his father and to further make amends for a lot of the pain he caused the family and demonstrate, through action, a greater relationship and bond between him and his dad,” he went on to say.
Harry’s visit came as Kate Middleton was still recovering from abdominal surgery in January, and Prince William returned to work three and a half weeks after his last public appearance. The Prince of Wales appeared to be in good spirits as he led an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, naming Brigadier Tobias Lambert an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
There is no indication that Harry and William will meet to resolve their differences. An unrelenting death rattle will impede the relationship, and William won’t let go of Harry because he caused so much suffering.
Questions continue to be raised on British news shows about why Buckingham Palace has not revealed the type of cancer Charles was diagnosed with.
