A luxury oceanfront mansion on Anastasia Island has set a new sales record. The home, owned by retired banking executive and well-known philanthropist Allen Lastinger, sold for $5.75 million. This is the highest price ever paid for a single-family home on the island.
Located at 8342 A1A South in St. Augustine, the 11,300-square-foot estate, called Villa Vistas, sits on nearly three acres of land. It was on the market for six months before selling on October 21. The property was listed by real estate agents Kim Martin Fisher and Jennifer Martin Faulkner of Douglas Elliman.
Allen Lastinger’s Legacy
Lastinger, a retired leader of Barnett Bank (now Bank of America), is well known in North Florida for his contributions to education and community development. He founded the Lastinger Center for Learning at the University of Florida’s College of Education and served as president of the UF Foundation Board. He also led the school’s Gator Boosters organization.
Last month, he made a significant donation to the Allen Lastinger Center for Florida History at the University of North Florida. This gift will help fund new programs and initiatives.
A Mansion with a Unique Design
Villa Vistas was carefully designed in 2001 using mostly local materials. It features coral stone fireplaces and pecky cypress ceilings. The home has 210 feet of oceanfront property, six bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms, a three-story elevator, a large pool, and a home theater.
In a past interview, Delores Lastinger described the home’s breathtaking views, with both the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River visible from the property.
