Nocatee to Get Third Publix Just Two Miles from Existing Stores

A new Publix is coming to Nocatee. (Skinner Bros. Realty)

Publix is opening a third supermarket in Nocatee, just two miles from two existing locations that sit across from each other.

St. Johns County recently approved permits for a 49,785-square-foot store at 75 Irondale Road in the Marketplace at Nocatee. The new location will include a drive-thru pharmacy and a liquor store. The total project cost is estimated at $14 million.

Known for its popular Pub Subs, popcorn chicken, and friendly staff, the Lakeland-based grocery chain will also be joined by two other retail buildings. The additional stores will be 9,100 and 8,400 square feet, but their tenants have not been announced yet.

Publix bought the property, located west of Valley Ridge Boulevard and just south of Nocatee Parkway, for $6.66 million in May.

Currently, Nocatee has two Publix stores facing each other on Crosswater Parkway in the Town Center. One of those locations was originally a GreenWise Market, which focused on organic and specialty foods. However, the concept did not take off, so Publix converted the store into a regular supermarket earlier this year.
