The HydroLight Lounge in Nocatee is bringing a unique wellness trend to Northeast Florida—colon hydrotherapy. This new spa is one of only two places in the region offering the treatment, which helps with bloating, digestion, and brain fog, according to owner Shannon Engel.
Engel, who spent nearly two decades in Manhattan’s advertising world, was surprised to find no local options for colon hydrotherapy after moving to Nocatee two years ago. That led her to open HydroLight Lounge, where self-care meets a fun, modern vibe.

What to Expect from “The Spritz”
The lounge’s colon hydrotherapy treatment, cleverly named “The Spritz,” uses the Angel of Water device to flush out the colon.
Here’s how it works:
- A small tube is inserted into the rectum.
- Up to 8 gallons of filtered water flow into the large intestine.
- Clients sit on a padded treatment chair for 45 minutes as the water clears out built-up waste.
- They can listen to music or watch Netflix while relaxing in a private room.
“It’s like going to the bathroom in the machine instead of the toilet,” Engel explained.

More Than Just Hydrotherapy
HydroLight Lounge, located in the Nocatee Town Center, focuses on treatments using water and light. Other services include:
- “The Negroni” – Red light therapy
- “The Hot Toddy” – Infrared sauna
Unlike traditional wellness clinics, Engel designed HydroLight with a social, upbeat atmosphere. Instead of plain water bottles, guests can sip specialty mocktails while they unwind.
“We want self-care to feel as normal as meeting friends for drinks or brunch,” Engel said. “HydroLight Lounge is where holistic health meets happy hour.”
