According to a veteran federal prosecutor, Ivanka Trump and her two brothers could incriminate themselves during cross-examination during Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial.
Glenn Kirschner, a legal analyst for NBC and MSNBC and a frequent Trump critic, was reacting to the news that the former president’s daughter must testify in the civil trial brought as part of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against the former president, two of his sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr, and the family real estate company, The Trump Organisation, on his Justice Matters show on YouTube.
Ivanka Trump, who left The Trump Organisation in 2017 to join her father’s White House administration, was originally mentioned in James’ lawsuit, which claimed that the Republican primary leader overstated the worth of his assets and buildings in financial records for years. She was dropped from the case in June because most of the charges against her had passed the statute of limitations.
Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the civil trial, ordered Ivanka Trump to take the stand and answer questions regarding her father’s finances under oath on Friday, with her testimony expected in the coming days. The former president and his two adult sons, all of whom deny any misconduct in connection with James’ case, are also slated to speak during the trial.
Kirschner predicted that when Donald Trump and his three children testify in the civil trial, things will “go from bad to worse,” with Engoron already ruling that the former president committed fraud by filing financial statements that overvalued several of his properties and assets.
“Do you really think there’s a chance that Don Jr, and Eric and Ivanka can get through their sworn testimony without lying, without perjuring themselves?” During his online broadcast, Kirschner inquired.
“After all, Judge Engoron has already granted partial summary judgement, and they’re going to be testifying about their business practises, their father’s business practises.” In other words, the judge has already determined that Donald Trump and others at The Trump Organisation committed substantial business fraud.
“The Supreme Court has said that cross-examination is, ‘The greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of the truth,'” he remarked.
“Do you believe Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka can withstand the rigours of examination and cross-examination?” They are hostile witnesses who will be cross-examined by the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James.”
A former Trump administration official predicts how Ivanka Trump will testify in court.
According to Jared Kushner, Saudi Arabia is “safer” for Jews than college campuses.
Jenna Ellis represents a “unique” threat to Donald Trump: When asked about Florida’s gun murders, legal analysts Ron DeSantis becomes confused.
Kirschner also stated that the former president might perjure himself during his testimony in New York, and that if he does, he should be held accountable.
Trump accused Engoron of being “grossly incompetent” and a “partisan political hack” in a Truth Social post in response to the announcement that his daughter would be forced to appear.
