Gujarat Rath Yatra Live (Watch Rath Yatra Live) 146th Rath Yatra of Jagannathji (Rath Yatra Live)
Ratha Yatra Puri The main temple of Jagannath is located in Puri, Odisha. Puri is especially famous for Rath Yatra or Ratha Jatra. This Rath Yatra starts in the month of Ashadha i.e. June or July according to the English month. The Rath Yatra of Jagannathpuri is considered to be the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival. Even in Gujarat, a very big Rath Yatra takes place in Ahmedabad. Also, small and big Rath Yatras are organized in many places in the Krishna temple. This festival includes three deities namely Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. These three Gods are mounted in a chariot, taken around the village, and brought to the Gunde temple. They stay in this small temple for a week, after which they are again offered Padhramani at the Jagannath temple.
What is the significance of Jagannathji’s Rath Yatra?
Lord Jagannath is an incarnation of Sri Krishna. It is believed that Lord Jagannath’s sister Subhadra expressed her desire to visit Dwarka and then Lord Jagannath took her sister in a chariot. Since then the Rath Yatra started. This Ratha Yatra is also mentioned in Skanda Purana, Narada Purana, Padma Purana, and Brahma Purana.
Normally, we all worship Lord Krishna, but during this Rath Yatra, there is a mythological tradition of worshiping Lord Krishna’s brothers and sisters as well. The festival begins with the bathing pilgrimage of Balarama Jagannath and Subhadra. Starting in the 12th century, this festival is celebrated even today by Hindu devotees with full pomp and faith.
In 2023 i.e. two to three days from now, the main attractions of this Yatra will be Chandan Yatra, Sanna Yatra, Hira Panchami, Niladari Bija, and Brahma Paramita. So friends, get ready to witness the Jagannathpuri Yatra this year and paint the nine-day procession with the color of devotion.
Know why Jagannath Rath Yatra is organized?
Every year in the month of Ashadha, on the second day of Shukla Paksha, Lord Jagannath (Lord Krishna) goes to the house of his maternal aunt (Gundicha) with his elder brother Balarama and younger sister Subhadra. On this day they are carried on three different chariots. After this, the three are taken by ratha yatra to their aunt’s house i.e. Gundicha temple.
