Jessica Tarlov of Fox News recounted Republican attacks on liberals as she defended Democrat Hillary Clinton, who previously called for the “deprogramming of the cult members” in former President Donald Trump’s constituency.
On Friday’s episode of “The Five,” co-host Jeanine Pirro asked if the ex-secretary of state’s statement was a “threat to democracy.”
Tarlov responded that Clinton’s words posed no threat, but will “land in a bunch of GOP ads” as Trump and other Republicans campaign for the 2024 elections.
“I really need everyone to spare me the faux outrage and pearl-clutching about this,” Tarlov remarked, before mentioning a variety of nasty words uttered by the Republican Party.
“Little collection of things that Donald Trump and high-ranking Republicans call liberals on a daily basis: anarchists, anti-American, deranged, communists, corrupt, compromised, groomers and perverts, thugs and traitors.”
Tarlov also posed a hypothetical in which he put Joe Biden in Trump’s shoes, asking how conservatives would react if the Democratic president faced 91 felony counts across four criminal cases, was found liable for sexual abuse, and was found guilty of fraud, or if he was accused of leaking information about the country’s nuclear submarines.
“And then I said, ‘So all of that is happening, and he’s shooting up in the polls.'” And when you watch those interviews with Trump fans outside of rallies, they say things like, ‘None of this is true. It’s the great deception. “He won the election,” Tarlov noted.
“And you wouldn’t tell me, ‘You guys are in a cult,’ would you?” What Hillary Clinton said was actually quite mild.”
