Glowfari at Oakland Zoo is back, bringing hundreds of glowing animal lanterns to light up the night! This popular holiday event creates a magical experience for visitors of all ages. Glowfari opens on select nights until January 26, 2025, offering a unique way to celebrate the season.

Each year, Oakland Zoo transforms with massive hand-painted animal lanterns that line a winding path. This year’s display includes a charming farm scene featuring a barn and a cute groundhog. Visitors can walk beneath a huge glowing snake and travel back in time to view bright dinosaur lanterns. The adventure continues in Egypt with pyramid and Sphinx lanterns lighting the way.

Glowfari happens after regular zoo hours, so there are no live animal exhibits during the event. Tickets start at $28, but children under two and adults over 76 can attend for free. Zoo members receive a 10% discount. The show runs from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm on select nights, and tickets are available for purchase 28 days in advance.

Glowfari 2024-2025 Dates:

  • November: 13-17, 20-27, 29-30
  • December: 1-23, 26-31
  • January: 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26

Since Glowfari is very popular, it’s best to book tickets early. Proceeds from the event help support zoo operations and animal care, ensuring fun events like this continue for years to come.
