The California-based company urged its users to download the latest iOS patch, a little over a month after releasing the previous update.

Apple has warned iPhone and iPad users about a serious security flaw and is urging them to update their devices right away. The company released a new iOS patch just over a month after the last update, showing how urgent the issue is.

Why the Update Is Important

Apple does not usually reveal security issues until it has fully investigated them, but experts believe the problem is linked to a flaw called CVE-2025-24201 in WebKit. WebKit is the browser engine used in Safari and other internet browsers on iPhones and iPads.

According to Apple, the flaw could allow harmful web content to escape WebKit’s security controls. Hackers have been using this weakness by setting up fake websites that, when visited, could let them break into other parts of the phone.

Apple stated:

“Maliciously crafted web content may be able to break out of Web Content sandbox. This is a supplementary fix for an attack that was blocked in iOS 17.2.”

A New Issue After the Fix

While the update fixes the security flaw, some users are reporting a new problem. According to Forbes, after installing the update, Apple Intelligence has been turned on for some users—even if they had previously turned it off.

Which Devices Need the Update?

The security patch is available for the following devices:

  • iPhone XS and later
  • iPad Pro 13-inch
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (7th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Apple’s Recent Security Warnings

This is not the first time Apple has warned users about a major security issue. In February, Apple said hackers had carried out “extremely sophisticated” attacks. One issue allowed hackers to disable USB Restricted Mode on locked devices, a security feature that has been part of iOS since 2018.

Apple confirmed the attack, stating:

“Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.”

Users are strongly advised to install the latest update as soon as possible to protect their devices.
