For decades, families could rely on a doctor making house calls—a service that has largely disappeared in modern healthcare. Now, one Nocatee couple is bringing it back.

Care on Call Pediatrics: Healthcare at Home

Courtney and Jonathan Salazar, founders of Care on Call Pediatrics, are reviving the house-call model to provide convenient, personalized pediatric care.

“As a new mom, I was incredibly grateful to have Jonathan by my side through all the constant worries that come with a new baby,” Courtney said. “But I realized that’s a luxury most new parents don’t have. Every family deserves that level of personal care, like back in the day when house calls were the norm.”

Rather than wish for the past, the Salazars decided to bring it to life.

Meet the Salazars

The couple met in 2012 while teaching in Jacksonville through Teach for America.

  • Jonathan taught high school science and elementary school in low-income communities before transitioning to pediatric healthcare in 2017.
  • He spent years working in urgent care but found that hospitals can be overwhelming for young children.
  • Courtney now runs marketing and booking for their new venture.

How the Service Works

Care on Call Pediatrics operates 24/7, with telehealth consultations before in-home visits.

“Is this something we can handle at the house, or do you need to go to the ER?” Jonathan explained.

Parents often face a tough choice between a stressful ER visit or hoping an issue resolves on its own. Care on Call eliminates that dilemma.

More Than Just Convenience

The service covers:
Strep tests
Laceration treatment
Fever diagnosis
Urgent pediatric concerns

“This model of care is more than just convenient; it’s personal,” Jonathan said. “We really get to know your child, work with you on a wellness plan, and provide care without rushed visits or scheduling hassles.”

For parents, it’s simple: Just call, and they’ll be there.
